Ho imparato a lavorare ad uncinetto con quelli di mia mamma: in alluminio, coloratissimi: sono sempre stati quelli con cui ho lavorato meglio, il filo scorre benissimo e forse mi ricordano la mia infanzia anni ’70.
Mai riuscita a lavorare con quelli in plastica, ad esempio, comuni da trovare in merceria: al di là del tristissimo colore grigio (ma se ne trovo vintage in colori pop li compro lo stesso, ma solo per spirito del collezionista), mi sembrano poco “di sostanza” ed affidabili, non sopporto neanche la sensazione al tatto. Purtroppo per certe numerazioni alte, la plastica è l’unica soluzione (15/20)!
All’inizio della mia dipendenza da uncinetto ero rimasta anche affascinata da quelli in bambù: sciccosissimi e dall’immagine sostenibile, ne ho comprati subito un set, manco a dirlo. Niente, non sono riuscita ad utilizzarli, mi sembrava che il filo “stridesse” sul legno, rendiamoci conto. Una sensazione personalissima, sia chiaro: ad esempio molte amiche hanno la stessa sensazione fastidiosa per l’alluminio, che io invece adoro.
Insomma mi ero messa il cuore in pace, alluminio way of life, mi sono anche comprata un’intero kit Susan Bates.
Finchè, per solito acquisto compulsivo da femmina demente che guarda all’aspetto prima che alla sostanza, compro un intero set di uncinetti Clover.
Da sempre amo tutti i prodotti di questo brand giapponese, di cui conoscerete sicuramente i Pompom Makers, quegli attrezzini benedetti per fare pompon in serie, l’avete visti anche sulla copertina del mio libro.

E’ quindi successo l’impensabile: gli uncinetti ergonomici Clover (Soft Touch e Amour) hanno battuto la mia fedeltà all’alluminio e vi spiego perchè: inanzitutto stanno perfettamente nella mano e il pollice si “riposa” sull’impugnatura in gomma.La punta è in acciaio, arrotondata, così non si rischia di dividere” il filo, specie nelle misure più piccole. Inoltre il manico in gomma è piacevolmente caldo (a differenza dell’alluminio) ed aiuta a non far stancare il polso.
Secondo me sono perfetti per chi comincia, perchè è come se aiutassero il movimento che all’inizio non viene in automatico: io ad esempio, abituata a quelli tradizionali, ho faticato un po’ ad abituarmi alla presenza dell’impugnatura, ma ora non tornerei indietro mai!
PS: ma poi li avete visti i colori? Ora sono usciti anche quelli per lavorazioni minuscole (0,75 ad esempio), tutti in colori pastello! *__*

So the unexpected had to happen: Clover’s ergonomic crochet hooks (Soft Touch and Amour) have beaten my loyalty to aluminum and I’ll explain why: first of all they perfectly fit in the hand while the thumb is “resting” on the rubber handle.The head is in steel, rounded, so you are not likely to divide the yarn, especially for tiny sizes. Moreover, the rubber handle is pleasantly warm (unlike aluminum) and helps not to tire the wrist.
According to me they are just perfect for beginners, because in some way they would help the hand and wrist movement, which isn’t automatic for beginners.
As I was used to the traditional ones, I struggled a bit to get used to the handle, but now I would not go back!
