Non è una novtà: il mondo del “Made” e del DIY è nato come sottocultura e come tale non deve sorprenderci che anch’esso sia diventato soggetto, come gruppi musicali, artisti e personaggi pop, di una sempre più frequente ondata di tatuaggi. Macchine da cucire vintage, forbicine da ricamo, nastri da sarta che si avvolgono intorno alle braccia, gomitoli ed aghi mescolati a slogan ed inni al farsi le cose da soli. Potevate mai immaginare, qualche anno fa, che tatuarsi uno schema punto croce o ferri ed uncinetto sarebbe stato da “ragazza cattiva”? Fate una ricerca su Pinterest come “Craft Tattoo” o “Crochet Tattooo”…

Il tatuaggio a ricamo di Justine de LeFunkymamas
Il mio tatuaggio “Happy Hooker”, con cuore a gomitolo e due uccellini a reggerne i capi, è stato realizzato anni fa dalla mia amica Betties Kler e fa spesso impallidire chi è madrelingua inglese: nasce infatti da un doppio senso non propriamente infantile.”Hooker” in inglese infatti è un termine tradizionale e ormai un po’ vintage per definire una “adescatrice”. Ma “Hooker”, che viene da “Hook”, uncinetto, vuol anche dire “Uncinettatrice”. Quindi “Happy Hooker” (che fu anche un libro di memorie del 1971 di una prostituta d’alto bordo, heehee), vuol dire proprio “Felice uncinettatrice” ma anche “Felice acchiappona”, cioè colei che “aggancia” le persone, mi sembrava perfetto.
PS E se non sei ancora così sicura di farti un tatuaggio definitivo? Prova quelli di Titoo! Due ragazze fantastiche che in Italia realizzano tatuaggi temporanei anche per eventi, matrimoni e perchè no, anche per il tuo knitting club!

Not a big news: the handmade community was born as a subculture and such as it is not surprising that its iconic world has become a tattoo subject, such as music groups, artists and pop icons. Vintage sewing machines, embroidery scissors, dressmaker tape that it’s wrapped around the arms, yarn balls and needles mixed with slogans and quotes encouraging to make things yourself. Could you ever image, just a few years ago, that tattooing a cross-stitch design or knitting and crochet tools would be cool? Do a web search on Pinterest as “Craft Tattoo” or “Crochet Tattooo” and find thousands of inspirations!My “Happy Hooker”tattoo, with heart shaped yarn ball and two birdies supporting the ends, was created years ago by my tattooist friend Betties Kler and often embarasses native English speakers: It’s clearly a play on words with the vintage term to define a , ahem, “free woman”, and who works with crochet. I thought an “hook” as an “engaging” tool was perfect for my personality as I love to involve people in doing crafts (and of course my sense of irony)!
