Many of the new artisans began to get their hands dirty after a crisis, a failure, the end of a job. Many say they’ve started like a game but a game is playing bingo at Christmas, cards with friends, hide and seek with children. I don’t believe beginning to cut wood, weaving, printing and learning to knit was ever a game, but rather giving yourself a new chance.
Today I host Valentina Milan from “Zucchero & Caffè”, that among the many new artisans who deal with wood and home decor, stands out for taste, image care, great color combination and comunication creativity. Valentina lives near an immense lake, she passed through many adventures and she is hugely shy. From some years now she lets her objects speaking for her.
“I’ve always enjoyed working with wood, paper and colours.Years ago I did my first experiments working at my shop’s windows, with the passing of time and many vicissitudes, my store changed its style a few times, finally it closed down and my will to create took a break too. Then one day, because of my new house had to be furnished, I tried to create the first wooden world, a “Love” sign which was all wrong and crooked but that I still love so much because it gave me the opportunity to take back wood in my hands, experimenting new projects and new ideas which, funny to say, I always and only have during the night, involving my partner, Roby, who often helps me to make them possible.
The greatest pleasure I have is when our creations evoke emotions and bring a touch of joy and color in other houses too. “You can find Zucchero&Caffè on Facebook and Etsy.
